Sexy Supergirl - SDCC 2009 by tracerhank Sexy Supergirl - SDCC 2009 by tracerhank
Supergirl (c) DC Comics

This was one of the many commissions I did at Comic-Con International 2009. It's also one of the few that I actually liked enough to take photos of. For some reason, Supergirl doesn't have as much fan base as some of the other female characters in comics. But I really like her, thanks to Bruce Timm's redesign of her in Superman: The Animated Series.

Reminds me of Alita from Gunmm with her lips puckered like that. Nice take on the hottie.

Good point! Alita/Gally is actually a character I like very much, and probably influenced me to draw Supergirl this way.

Nice one. And, yes, from her origin to her taking up residence in the 31st century, the animated version of Supergirl is one of my favorites.

Agreed. IMHO, the blue and red outfit just doesn't fit her as well. The blue color might just be a bit cold for her character.

Don't get me wrong, the blue works for me, too, depending on the costume. The 70s costume with the blue top and the shorts is my favorite, but the white top animated costume is fun. Plus, I loved that version of her origin. The old Silver Age origin was just beyond stupid. A whole city, blasted off the surface of a planet, with just enough force to escape, but not enough to flatten everyone in town to paste? Ridiculous. Make it a moon or a space station, even, and I can buy it. Or another planet in the system. It worked. It was just different enough. It was never plausible, to me, to have a society with advanced technology, that rejected space exploration.

I did a column on a way to work Kara into the Man of Steel continuity, in my Artistic License column this month. www.collectortimes.com in the Comics section.

Thanks! Your work is great, too; Reminds me of the old school TMNT comics.
